THE
GREASETRAP
Centrifugal Upblast Exhaust Fan
The Empire upblast GREASETRAP is ideal for use
in commercial kitchens over grilles, charcoal broilers, deep fat fryers,
steam tables, ranges, dishwashers and other appliances, both gas fired
and electric. Greasetraps provide a sure, steady exhaust and are
constructed to operate dependably under severe conditions imposed by the
exhaust system.
Sturdy construction features include: a
durable spun aluminum housing with rolled exterior edges, prewired
motors protected and out of the airstream, a NEMA weatherproof
disconnect switch, built-in electrical conduit and an external grease
drain. GREASETRAP units comply with NFPA 96 and are UL 762 Listed for
removal of cooking vapors. The fans are Certified by the Canadian
Standards Association (CSA).

- Normal Temperature Test: Exhaust fan must
operate continuously while exhausting air at 400°F
(204°C)
until all fan parts have reached thermal equilibrium, and without
any deteriorating effects to the fan which would cause unsafe
operation.
- Abnormal Flare-Up Test: Exhaust fan must
operate continuously while exhausting burning grease vapors at 600°F
(315°C)
for a period of 15 minutes without the fan becoming damaged to any
extent that could cause an unsafe condition.

SPECIFICATIONS
- Empire Systems' upblast centrifugal roof
fans are UL 762 approved for "Restaurant Exhaust
Appliances" and tested for 400°F
continuous discharge air temperature. Units comply with NFPA-96
"Vapor Removal for Cooking Equipment." Each fan is
certified by the Canadian Standards Association.
- Housing shall be constructed of heavy gauge
spun aluminum, prestressed and work hardened in three axis for
maximum strength. Spun parts shall include a large diameter bead for
increased strength. Mounting poles shall be prepunched for ease of
installation. Grease is collected and drained to a single point in
the base.
- Each unit is equipped with a NEMA
waterproof disconnect switch and built-in electrical conduit.
- Centrifugal wheel shall be non-overloading
backward inclined design. All wheel components shall be die formed
for repeatability and precision. Wheels shall be robotically welded
for maximum reliability. Hubs shall be precision machined. Wheel
load shall be carried by patented low stress mating drive. Blades
shall be high strength 5052 aluminum alloy curved to provide maximum
operating efficiency and beam strength. Wheels shall be statically
and dynamically balanced in accordance with ISO 1940 standard, ANSI
S2.19, Level G6.3. Overall runout shall be less than .032". The
wheel and inlet shall be aerodynamically designed and constructed to
provide maximum performance and efficiency.
- The bearings shall be heavy duty, self
aligning ball bearings, grease lubricated and selected for minimum
life (L50) of 200,000 hours at maximum operating speed. Shafts shall
be turned, ground, polished and rust protected. Shafts shall be
sized so that the first critical speed is at least 30% over the
maximum operating speed. Close tolerances shall be maintained along
the length of the shaft.
- Pulleys shall be cast iron, machined,
keyed, balanced and securely attached. Motor pulley shall be
adjustable. Belts and pulleys shall be sized for a minimum of 125%
of the installed motor horsepower. Pulleys shall be installed and
adjusted to specified RPM. The fan's prewired motor is UL
Recognized, open drip proof type and is protected from the air
stream.

Empire exhausters carry the UL label. Check
Underwriters' Laboratories Re-examination Service for specific units
listed.
Empire exhausters are also certified by the
Canadian Standards Association.
WARRANTY
Empire SYSTEMS, INC.
(SELLER), warrants this equipment to be free from defects in materials
and workmanship, under normal use and service, for a period of 12 months
from date of shipment. This warranty shall not apply if 1) the equipment
is not installed by a qualified installer per the SELLER'S Installation
Instructions (copy of which is shipped with the product), 2) the
equipment is not installed in accordance with federal, state and local
codes and regulations, 3) the equipment is misused or neglected, 4) the
equipment is not operated within its published capacity.
The SELLER shall not be liable for incidental and consequential losses
and damages potentially attributable to malfunctioning equipment.
Should any part of the equipment prove to be defective in material or
workmanship within the 12 month warranty period, upon examination by the
SELLER, such part will be repaired or replaced by Seller at no charge.
The BUYER shall pay all labor costs incurred in connection with such
repair or replacement. Equipment shall not be returned without SELLER'S
prior authorization and all returned equipment shall be shipped by the
Buyer, F.O.B. Youngsville, North Carolina, freight prepaid.
